Contributions / Research draft

From a proposed change to a published result

The contribution study examines how open projects record evidence, review decisions and releases. It proposes linking a transport-information change to its exact revision and the output that contains it.

Selected findings

Acceptance and release

The inspected cases distinguish discussion, review, merged changes and released outputs. A merged revision alone does not establish inclusion in a particular release.

Evidence and reuse rights

A source can support a factual claim without granting permission to reuse its material. A file digest identifies bytes without verifying the information they contain.

Review responsibilities

The cases include requests for further evidence and changes to related references. The study records these decisions separately from automated checks.

From evidence to design

OTI proposals

Illustrated sheets for evidence, rights and revision are linked by a continuous trail to a separate published output. The artwork explains the proposed model; it is not a real contribution record.
Proposed record linking evidence and reuse conditions to an exact reviewed revision and a separately identified published output.

A versioned contribution record

Record the affected information, proposed change, reason, source, rights, exact revision and review decision.

An output reference

Link the accepted revision to the output containing it, with credit and a history of corrections or withdrawal.

An assisted entry route

Let contributors describe factual changes in ordinary language, with maintainer assistance to prepare the evidence record where needed.
